This is one of the first of a new style of necklace that Tessa has been working on. A large Ethiopian opal tear in a solid gold bezel frame drips from the pigeon's pendant grasp. Although, the other star of this show is the handmade buckle clasp designed and created by Tessa in collaboration with the goldsmith Ryan Nelson, an extremely talented traditional bespoke Hatton Garden jeweller. This working buckle is the clasp mechanism for taking the necklace on and off and is the real genius of the piece. Standing discretely to one side, to let her opal partner shine, knowing full well that they are the brains of the double act. The claw hangs from an upside-down teardrop bale in a hollow mirror of the stones silhouette. The super chunky chain and the technical clasp create the strong bold and yet elegant design. Worn short around the collar bone, not for the faint hearted.
Ethiopian opals: So beautiful that they come with a WARNING. This type of opal is absorbent, so to keep them looking bright and beautiful they need a little looking after. Avoid dirty water, oils and other liquids that could get inside the stone. She comes with her own little care guide to follow.
