Emerald

Emerald is a green gemstone and a variety of the mineral beryl. Most emeralds are included and it is these flaws which make them cloudy and prone to breakages. They are stone cutters and stone setters worst nightmare as a the slightest pressure on the wrong spot, and ping, the stone is gone! The impurities and inclusions also make them cloudy and they generally have low clarity. This makes the deep green sparkling emeralds just so incredibly rare, and extremely expensive. We have a lot of love for the less desirable cloudy pale more opaque 'Colombian emeralds', they are much more affordable, have loads of character, and we love the softer colour too. Although we can source the fine emeralds too if budget allows. Due to the fragility of this stone we often set them securely with gold around to frame the stone like a halo, this protects the stone from damage of day to day knocks. The strength of any stone is considered in the design of the piece to make sure it lasts the test of time, and lifestyle.
