Garnet

Garnet typically has a deep blood red colour sometimes with a brownish tinge, but not all the time. Tsavorite is a green garnet, rhodolite is purple and photographed here is a rare pink garnet heart that Tessa has collected too. The geometry of raw garnet crystals is also something quite fascinating. The unusual triangular structure of one crystal was the whole inspiration behind Innes's Crystal Heart Ring. The two sides of the stone seem to weave together. Sometimes natural just does it best.

Colours: Brown to red shades are the most common, but there are other colours too.
