Grace's Coin Necklace

Grace and I went through her Grandad's coin collection to pick out our favourites to make this commemorative necklace for her. Inspired by an antique coin necklace where by coins would have been worn around the neck for safe keeping and removed to pay for things. This also plays on the very out of fashion style of 'wearing your wealth'. The bold over opulence, now considered  crass, 'lower class' and very out of fashion makes me love it even more. Because, more is more!

A Commemorative piece for Raf's mother. Made in silver with oxidised details and garnet blood drops. The mechanism of this brooch is entirely hand made and designed for strength to be worn on this 6'4" man's leather jacket everyday.

Raf's Tourmaline Crystal and Garnet Drop Brooch

Gammy Pigeon with a Diamond Disease

This necklace was commissioned by Michelin star chef Tom Sellers. He gave me complete creative freedom to make something that I wanted to make. This is a gammy London pigeon complete with missing toes. The bird has a strange disease of black diamond warts popping up over his scaled foot. I'm wanted to honour a truly gammy bird for a long time, thank you Tom.

Alex's Dead Lovers Hair Brooch

Held safely within this piece is the hair of Alex's dead lover. Inside the specially designed and hand-cut rose quartz heart, light reflects off the rose gold back plate and through the soft lines of his brown hair. Solid silver claws hold the piece together with the arms twisting into antique, ornate ends subtly echoing wings either side. From the bottom of the piece hangs a single garnet teardrop for bloodshed. The back of this piece is as much work as the front. From the engraved back plate to the handmade bespoke pin mechanism. Every single element of this is in honour of the story it tells.

Protectively framed in a thick handmade gold bezel the opal is held in place by the precious bird that found her. A solid gold manicure and miniature diamond ring adorn this not so feral bird, whilst oversized hallmarks with my trademark pigeon finish the outer frame.

In the centre hangs a Chilean 'Libertad' 10 pesos from 1978. Then from right to left is a New York City transit token, 1 Hong Kong Dollar 1979 with Queen Elizabeth on the back, 10 Yen from Japan and 25 Sentimos from the Philippines 1970. The last claw is wearing a tiny diamond pinky ring just like Gina's Grandad used to.

Stevie's Dad found this 650 year old groat coin with his metal detector. It's a silver Edward III fourpence coin minted between 1351-1361. I set the coin inside a gold frame to protect it and gave this a matt finish as the coin is to old to look right with a polished edge. The claws are also oxidised to help the antique look like it just came out the ground.
